I feel incredibly secure over my job. I took a Tuesday off and I came back hearing about how everything fell apart without me. I have managers asking when I plan on being away from work so that they can also be off to avoid the sh*tstorm.

I'm pretty secure. I do desktop support for a non-profit company. 5 of our 10 techs are contractors, I'm one of the FTE people, so if they do have to start cutting people the contractors will be the first to go. But we're actually looking for an additional tech right now, so things are pretty good.

Same here, in the state we have contractors and FT people. The contractors are usually the first to go.

I think I'm fairly secure. I work at a defense contractor that has been doing really well the past few years. There are a number of contractors on the project I'm on as well as in the building, and a lot of them would go before regular employees, generally.

Secure enough that the only way I know I'm leaving is in a wooden box.

If my employer goes bottomup, we'll all have more to worry about than our jobs.

Relatively secure. Had a handful of layoffs last fall but nothing since. It seemed more like a convenient opportunity to cut some fat out but the amount of work coming through has definitely decreased.

Secure unless we fold. Our group is as thin as it can get now and in terms of cost to the company I am one of the youngest in the room... therefore one of the cheapest.

Very. It's temp and they're extending my contract on a weekly basis until they find someone permanent. So, I may or may not be working next Monday, but at least I knew it when I went in.

Reasonably secure for now, as I've survived one round of layoffs early this month. Who knows what the future will bring, though.

7/10... my department is so short staffed as it is, I can't imagine them firing anyone. there are other departments with a lot more fat to trim than mine.

Reasonably secure, but I'll continue to sock away savings just in case.

Relatively insecure. Rumors abound about them cutting the rotational program I am in. Then again, we are cheap labor. But they may need to layoff 1/3 of the company to correspond to 1/3 drop in revenues. Oh yeah, and they are majorly broke.

Not very, got laid off Jan 21st. Worked in IT. Not that big of deal as we are mostly debt free. Sad part about it though is looking at the Alabama Job Bank Website shows 5,500 jobs open and 141,000 resumes online. Sucks for alot of people.
