I dunno, 5'8" or 5'9" so I chose 5'8.5". Yeah, I'm fine with it, I don't care.

I am not saying it's wrong if someone near average wants to gain a little extra height, but I think people really need to think this through and weigh the risks and benefits.

I am 5'8". When I was younger I was not happy with my height. I eventually learned to accept myself the way I am and my height stop being an issue.

I would recommend you come to terms with who you are before you do anything else.

6'2" and I'm satisfied. Wife is 5'9" so I need it to be at least even when she's in heels.

I'm 6'4" and I like my height, but it does come with some disadvantages:

- size 15 shoes pretty hard to find.
- nearly impossible to find a well-fitting long-sleeved clothes. Anything that fits my arms and shoulders is about twice the size of my torso.
- a lot of basements are annoying.
- I never have leg room in small or badly-designed cars
- plane trips are terrible.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't be shorter if I had the chance.

yep for 2-5.

My shoes are only size 13 though, which aren't too bad to find. 13 seems to be about the upper limit of "standard" shoes, the selection has already dried up a bit and I rarely see anything larger.

Your pole has too many options.

I'm about 5'8 and wish I was taller. My fiance is 5'4 and is level with me when wearing big heels, which is WHY I wish I was taller.

I can only imagine the problem with shoes that big...You could always buy from the place that makes them for Ronald McDonald...

I have enough difficulty finding shoes for my big Flintstone Feet. MOST shoes, I take a 12 4E. The length is easy to find...not so much the width.
My work boots are between 10-1/2 and 11 2F...which is about the same as 4E. The start at about $400 per pair. Not only does White's Boots make the best work boots you can buy, they also make decent "walking shoes" that are OK for MOST work environments...but start at a bit over $200 per pair.

New Balance is great for people with big feet...but they're not always the appropriate footwear.

It is not a coincidence that I'm wearing New Balance shoes right now, and have another 2 pairs at home. Luckily I work at in a pretty casual environment and don't go to many fancy places, so I end up wearing running shoes almost all the time.

Clothes are by far the most annoying aspect. I have XL sized arms and shoulders, but M/L sized torso, which means that for jackets and sweaters I have to choose between looking like I'm wearing a poncho, or rolling up the sleeves because they're too short regardless.

Have you ever tried the Big and Tall Men's stores?

I wear a 2X, (size 18-1/2" neck with 35" sleeves) and if I can find a 2X tall, I'm much more comfortable...and the shirts stay tucked in. I have a strong dislike for the "plumber's crack" look of untucked shirts.

Why shorter?

My dad insists that I am at least 5'11" on account of the fact I'm taller than him and he's 5'10". I don't know if my dad shrunk or what, because I've been measured in a doctor's office on more than one occasion and the result is always 5'9". It's not something that really bothers me much, but of course I'd like to be even taller.

I suppose I should be happy that I'm the tallest in my immediate family, even with a mother that is barely over 5' but honestly height is like dick size. If you're 5'9" you might be happy but deep down you really wish you were 6'. If you were 6' you'd probably really like to be 6'2". And so on.

Oh sure, there's a few tall guys complaining "I can't find shoes that fit" (can anyone? I think they only make shoes from some narrow footed alien species and the rest of us just cram our feet into the only available option) or "I hit my head on light fixtures" or "I stink at skateboarding" but they know they have the good end of things. Women think you're more attractive just for being tall, even if you're ugly! Other studies show you are perceived as smarter and more competent, even if you aren't! Smaller men are afraid of you!

Quite satisfied with my height. Buying clothes is a little tricky, but well worth the inconvenience.

The CA DMV used to think I was 99' tall and weighed 99 lbs. I still kick myself for correcting them. Now they think I'm normal sized.

I wouldn't mind an inch or two... oh wait, you mean to my height .

I'm 6'2" and it's fine.

Oh yeah, people are scared of me too. That can be fun though

I sort of know how you feel. Being tall is rather uncomfortable when things are being made smaller and more compact .

For some reason, I just thought you'd be a tad bit shorter!
