How the HELL can I find out about my tax refund?

Self-employed. I am not a little person with payroll deductions LOL.

Hire an attorney and an accountant.

I am a Retired old fart who has not done my 2021 taxes yet as my paperwork for my pension,
etc have not been printed yet.
My 2020 taxes I did 11 months ago got direct deposited about 10 months ago.

The idiots at the IRS owe me over $16k. Still haven't got my check, even though I filed by the due date I think it was back in May. I used their stupid on-line refund check thing, but it won't give me the status of my refund. I tried their stupid 1.800 number, when through the same process, it too would not give me the status. I tried getting through to a live individual but it seems impossible, each time I end up with a recording.

Anyone know what the HELL I can do?!?! Fuking goverment sucks...

My best suggestion, besides hiring a Tax attorney;

I guess it's better than owing 16k But yeah I would suggest getting an accountant and restructuring.

The IRS certainly didn’t have any problems or delays coming after me for the $250k I “owed” them thanks to the sale of my home a couple years ago and a couple other extraneous bs items. I wonder how they thought I came across that house randomly with a cost basis of $0 🙄 I’ve since beaten them back to only claiming that I owe them taxes on my PayPal 1099-K. I legitimately didn’t know I needed to file taxes on random garage sale ebay shit so I filled out the appropriate form showing a capital loss on that “business” and asked them to send a check. Highly doubt I ever see it or hear from them again.

Wow, 16k is a pretty significant sum. Are you sure that's the amount they owe you? The most they have ever owed me was 5.000 dollars. Now the story with that money isn't so great. I couldn't get money as they told me I breached something, so they had to deduct and calculate the new sum from that sum. Well, I was like, "someone wants to scam me, that's for sure." And in the end, I found out that it actually was 5k. I created an official copy of my paystub at https://www.paystubcreator.net/, and I made all the calculations.

Once they put a hook in you for something they'll come for everything. I mistakenly forgot to include income from a cashed out pension a few years ago and they ended up coming at me for some $5 settlement check from some old class action at the same time.
