You really need to take Etech's advice and read some different books. Truman did not issue a threat before Hiroshima. The Potsdam declaration was the "threat", so to speak, and the Japanese rejected it. That was 11 days before Hiroshima.
Plenty of time.

They WERE NOT going to surrender.

Truman's "surrender or expect a rain of ruin from the air" ultimatum was AFTER Hiroshima.

So forget about Truman issuing a threat and "not waiting for a response". That didn't happen.

The reason they live in squalor and have nothing to lose is that is the way the Arab countries have wanted it to be. The Palestinians are being used as disposable pawns in a proxy war by the Arab countries against Israel.

Could be so. But then, those Arab aren't alone in the world in their lack of amicability when it comes to accepting refugees. At the same time, I don't see why they would be happy about the US/Europe backed Jews spreading out on what is pretty much considered Arab land.

Interesting note on Unit 731, why it was swept under the rug, why the commander of the unit was offered immunity, and why no one in that unit was ever prosecuted as a war criminal: we wanted the data from those tests. Then there's also the question of the US and it's possible use of Unit-731 inspired biological warfare in the Korean war.

Japan was not going to surrender and a land invasion of mainland Japan would have been necessary. Many more lives would have been lost that way. Regarding the targeting of civilians, Japan was competing head to head with Germany in terms of commiting war crimes.
