I don't like talking in the phone to begin with. If I had a phone at home, I wouldn't need a cell phone. The only reason I got a cell phone is because I don't plan on staying in an apartment for very long and it's one thing that will remain constant in a move.

Easy. A phone exists in just about every room of every building you'll ever be in. Grab one of those and call if you need to. And if you don't have access to one of them, ask your friends to borrow theirs. Or, do you intend to say that you don't have friends and that you aren't socializing? I could see someone without friends would want a cell phone of their own. But those of us with friends always have access to a cell phone and thus we don't need to pay for them ourselves.

I don't want to be reached at any time any place. I have a home phone, they can leave a message. Also, those with cellphones tend to call just because they can. Gets pretty dang annoying, especially in situations where it is rude to talk on the phone. (IE - while eating dinner, playing sports, etc)

Because I don't need it? (except for emergency situations). My wife can reach me at work when she needs to reach me during the day. She can call me at home if she needs to reach me at night. Same goes for family.

I "chat" daily with friends via email.

I have a 10 minute drive to work with no traffic at all so I'm rarely going to be stuck getting home late. Just about anything else can either be addressed by planning ahead or simply making due.

It's pretty easy to ignore a cell phone when it rings... I do it all the time

I hate my Home phone, a cell phone would be Hell. Sure, a phone is handy for some things, but if I had the choice between a whiny toddler and a ringing phone, I'd choose the toddler.

I have a cellphone, but hardly use it. It's around mostly for the convinence of the address book, and the rare case where something comes up and I won't be at place x at y time.

I have a Cell phone but I don't really use it all that much, I got it mainly for emergencys. Most of the people I know are at work during the day or at home at night so I can just use the regular phone. On the plus side my friends don't feel the need to call me all the time and jabber about nothing.
