"Although the loss of lives is deeply saddening, this act of God destroyed a wicked city. From 'Girls Gone Wild' to 'Southern Decadence', New Orleans was a city that had its doors wide open to the public celebration of sin. May it never be the same. Let us pray for those ravaged by this disaster. However, we must not forget that the citizens of New Orleans tolerated and welcomed the wickedness in their city for so long,"

I find little difference between Falwell's claims that this was God's vengeance for sin and the Left's claims that this was Nature's vengeance for global warming (read: sins). Both are bullsh!t.

Yeah... we've really said that. Gimme a break. The damage is a result of a hurricane, nothing more. I do think it's funny though that the Germans are blaming the hurricane on Bush. Look- I hate Bush, I'm way to the left, and I think he's a failure... but come on. There's a limit to how far you can take this.

I think you are an idiot. Does that make everyone with the same political philosophy think that? No.

Umm... I'm pretty sure global warming is a lot more pausible. I don't think anyone can argue against global warming. The whole debate is over WHY it is happening, not if.

Cyclical or human induced is what the argument is about.

In all fairness, it's clearly unfair and inaccurate to say that all conservatives would ally themselves with "Repent America."

I was not referring to global warming per see, but the false argument that global warming caused the hurricane.

Definitely, but anyone who calls themselves "Christian" as opposed to just "God-frearing" should be condemning these people just as strongly as we feel muslims should be condemning islamic extremists.

I'm an agnostic, but last I checked only Yaweh enjoyed mass slaughter, not Jesus.

Spin. So many people want to explain things according to their beliefs. This is scary b/c apparently no amount of education can change some people.

Fvck Jerry Falwell, those are some of the worst comments I've ever heard, right up there with Kanye West's statement that "Bush hates blacks."

Can I quote some drugged up homeless hippie as 'how the left thinks'?

It's sickening to think that I lean to the 'left', but for some reason it seems that 90% of the 'left' on this forum is delusional.

But yeah, Jerry Falwell is an idiot.

The German environmental minister - link

RFK Jr. did as well. It seems obvious that for political extremists on both sides, there is no tragedy great enough to stop their grandstanding. I really wish I wasn't stuck at home this weekend with a sprained achilles... reading all this garbage is really causing me to lose my faith in humanity.

These people are not Christains like many fundementalists today but Jews instead. Like Pat Robertsons of the world, hate and wishes for vengance is incompatable with Christianity. Some people are skillful at reading the Bible out of context, but you won't find one word in the New Testament, which is the Christian Bible, that advocates murder or vengance for any reason period. You won't find a hating vengeful God but one who loves all his children.

I wonder if they fly around in Gulfstream Jets and own Diamond Mines in South Africa like Robertson too?

the prevelence of larger and more frequent hurricane of the last few years has been due atributed to a warmer gulf and caribean, and atlantic ocean in general. Now which is a more plausable cause for the waming of the ocean, an act of god or global warming?
