Land surveys are damn expensive, though, now I see some are using satellite images to mark your land, it is much cheaper, but no idea if that holds up in court or not.
We've got a 20 acre plot that we lease to farm. One year it sat and the neighbor kept throwing grass on part of it and mowing further and further in to try to make his yard bigger. He probably took in a good 20ft and turned it into part of his yard. I laughed my ass off when the farmer took the tiller right through it the next year. LOL
Put up a fence.
Plant something in between the boundary.
Put in large landscape rocks.
Personally I dont see what the big deal is. Some people make love to their yards.
You could tell him you plan on planting something you know will invade his yard.
Plant a few mulberry trees.
