I don't really like mixers in my spirits, if I want a long drink I'll get a beer.

I'm not against mixers in principle, I think everyone should enjoy their drinks the way they want, I just like the flavour of neat spirits.

I can appreciate this...but now and again I get a thirst for a few mint juleps. i usually start mixing them 50/50 and end up with mostly bourbon at the end of the night.

usually a beer guy myself, however. i bought some makers and bushmills today to have around if i want liquor, but i spend most of my drinking money on beer

I'm a regular Brandy drinker. I'd say taste it strait, if its not the flavor you like then mix it with a splash of cola and water, over ice.

The best Cognac I've had was in a bottle that I couldn't read the label(French) and had been in the bottle for over 40 years. It was the best brandy I've ever had and I've tried many different bottles.

Last time I had a very expensive bottle of cognac I drank it slowly over the course of 2 months.

I would pour a shot and throw some ice in with it and just sip it super slow while I played chess with my friend; good times indeed. The water from the ice dilutes it a little and lets you get a little more of the taste.

i'd buy bottles of cheaper cognac and store the nice cognac until you've drunk enough cheap cognac to appreciate the difference. i've got a few nice XO's from gramps too but my plan to do the same deviated into whiskeys/bourbon/scotch instead of cognac.. so now they just sit around collecting dust.

In a nice cognac glass, neat, and listen to his "back in the day" stories on leather recliner in front of a real wood fireplace, after a fine dinner.

Depending on the brand, some of those cognacs are paired with cigars, some are paired with chocolates. I don't usually bother with any of that and just take it by itself.
