Agreed, but my agent told me its how its done. Does it make sense? Nope, not a bit.
I can tell you that my XR650R Supermoto and my Daytona 675 cost the exact same for full coverage though, so i would tend to believe her.
I called up my insurance company to get a quote on a 2010 Monster 1100 S about a year ago and I found out that it would only be about $8 more a month than my SV650 costs me to insure. I'm with USAA.

USAA doesn't insure bikes. they go through progressive.
WTF. I'm with USAA too, but they do their MC insurance through Progressive which sucks. How'd you manage that Jules?
I'm old...and married and my homeowners and auto insurance is through them.
Old...married...homeowner...yuck!
Hey, I can hang with some of the faster guys on bikes. Old doesn't mean dead...and I'm not that old. Fuck, I have an 8 year old son and I still play video games.
Just fuckin w/ ya Jules
That's why 1st floor apartments rule, just wheel it inside.
I may have missed it, but what triumph are you getting?
I recorded my 45 minute commute in San Diego rush hour traffic this morning. If I posted it here I'd get all kinds of negative feedback on it, I can assure you. Lots of lane splitting, some speeding, etc.
Of course, it is 1.6GB and 45 minutes long so I don't think there are many free sites that would host a file like that...certainly not youtube.
I had a D675 for a while, which i think is the same as the street tripple R.
Good torque for a high strung super sport engine. It feels like it has a ton more torque than an inline 4. You can actually ride it on the street and not have to shift all the time to stay in the powerband. The sound is incredible of course, i would recommend getting some type of slip on at least for it and if you can afford them, the arrow pipes are sick! check out triumph675.net, lots of good stuff on there.
Kinda wish i still had that bike, but i have a lot more fun with what i have now!
It's a retuned D675 engine to give the powerband a broader range. Talking to a couple of owners and reading the Triumphrat forum it sounds like it pulls consistently from 0 to redline. Comparing the 2011 R models from Triumph's claims (D675R & St3R), the D675 supposedly has 124hp & 53 ft-lbs while the St3R puts out 105hp & 50 ft-lbs (measured from crankshaft).
I've looked at the aftermarket exhausts and will have a better idea of what I want to do with it after I ride it for a while. My initial thought is to go with the Arrow 3-in-1 but that sucker costs $1200.
23, male, 8 months riding experience, 1 speeding ticket 1.5 years ago (75 in 65 on highway), no accidents. Pay $65/mo for my GS. Geico wants $2400, Progressive wants $3k, rest are way out there.
