Agreed, but my agent told me its how its done. Does it make sense? Nope, not a bit.
I can tell you that my XR650R Supermoto and my Daytona 675 cost the exact same for full coverage though, so i would tend to believe her.

I called up my insurance company to get a quote on a 2010 Monster 1100 S about a year ago and I found out that it would only be about $8 more a month than my SV650 costs me to insure. I'm with USAA.

WTF. I'm with USAA too, but they do their MC insurance through Progressive which sucks. How'd you manage that Jules?

Ok...State Farm just quoted me $1440/yr, $500 collision deductible and no comprehensive deductible. How can they be $700 under Allstate and not have a comprehensive deductible? Anyone have any experience with State Farm?

USAA doesn't insure bikes. they go through progressive.

I don't pay Progressive. I pay USAA.

Never had a claim on my motorcycle policy in the 5 or so years I've been insured with them so I don't know how that would work.

Just fuckin w/ ya Jules

I recorded my 45 minute commute in San Diego rush hour traffic this morning. If I posted it here I'd get all kinds of negative feedback on it, I can assure you. Lots of lane splitting, some speeding, etc.

Of course, it is 1.6GB and 45 minutes long so I don't think there are many free sites that would host a file like that...certainly not youtube.

2011 Triumph Street Triple R. Blazing Orange. Yum!

Can't wheel it inside, I'm on the first floor but the apartment isn't quite big enough. Only 550 sq. ft and a big ass island takes up the kitchen. I've learned a lot of things since getting this place.

Yea, dunno bout that, kind of a big file. If you post it, pm link.

Thanks for the help guys. Lot of really great suggestions and I'll pursue what I can.

Awesome bike. I've been looking at the upcoming Triumph Tiger XC. Want something I can take off the road and is comfortable for longer trips. I really want to test ride a new triumph with that triple motor

I had a D675 for a while, which i think is the same as the street tripple R.
Good torque for a high strung super sport engine. It feels like it has a ton more torque than an inline 4. You can actually ride it on the street and not have to shift all the time to stay in the powerband. The sound is incredible of course, i would recommend getting some type of slip on at least for it and if you can afford them, the arrow pipes are sick! check out triumph675.net, lots of good stuff on there.
Kinda wish i still had that bike, but i have a lot more fun with what i have now!

It's a retuned D675 engine to give the powerband a broader range. Talking to a couple of owners and reading the Triumphrat forum it sounds like it pulls consistently from 0 to redline. Comparing the 2011 R models from Triumph's claims (D675R & St3R), the D675 supposedly has 124hp & 53 ft-lbs while the St3R puts out 105hp & 50 ft-lbs (measured from crankshaft).

I've looked at the aftermarket exhausts and will have a better idea of what I want to do with it after I ride it for a while. My initial thought is to go with the Arrow 3-in-1 but that sucker costs $1200.

Welcome to the joys of owning a Triumph.

Then again, it's not as though Termignoni exhausts are cheap either.

23, male, 8 months riding experience, 1 speeding ticket 1.5 years ago (75 in 65 on highway), no accidents. Pay $65/mo for my GS. Geico wants $2400, Progressive wants $3k, rest are way out there.

Wow thats a crazy price, I have a 04 ZX10R renewal just come through at £187 third party fire and theft.

On the bike security if you cant fit a ground anchor to the floor, get a large bucket and fill it with concrete to chain the bike too, as mentioned most thefts the bike is picked up and put into a van.

I lock mine to regular street signs using a kyptonite lock. I know they could cut through though the sign post pretty easily but the point is deterrence and trying to prevent the typical pick it up and throw it in a van theft.

Kind of random, but what kind of driving history do you have for such expensive coverage?

Granted, I'm in the Midwest (which means my insurance is automatically adjusted to less for the five to seven months out of the year you can't ride) but I have full coverage with a $250 deductible for $288/year.
