Hey guys, is there a way to block tracking cookies from a specific website please? Meaning, I don't want specific sites to monitor any activities on my pc.

Yea, I guess I should add i use AdBlock plus as well as no script. Can't be too careful, is it too much that I also push all my surfing traffic through a private vpn service?

Nope, your privacy your rules! Just beware there are ways to track you even with all that protection!

You should keep in mind that website's doesn't track only with cookies but based on the pages you visit and the information you submit.

Now, you can try to disable javascript if you want 'extra' protection with script blocking add-ons but few websites will work without it.

Adblock Plus is a great extension that can help with both ads and tracking cookies.

Ghostery and Adblock Plus are also available for Chrome.

Other than by using a VPN service or a proxy server, that's impossible. The IP address is necessary for communication between yourself and their servers, so it can't be hidden.

Sorry I should have explained better, since my intent is to be working remotely on customer's pc's fixing their issues, I will never know what a customer is doing so if they are into any illegal activity I don't want anything traced back to my pc for my own protection so I guess the question I should be asking is, by remotely working on a person's pc, would anyone have access to my ip address?

If you're using a remote service to work on someone's pc, chances are they have no idea what you're even talking about at this point.

I assume you're attaching your laptop computer to the customer's network. And you're wondering if sites that you visit can identify your IP address back at your home?

That's kind of an odd question.

It would be possible through a tracking cookie, but they wouldn't really identify your IP address. They would recognize your computer. I suppose they could then match that up with other IP addresses that you've connected from. Or even with you, the person, if any of those tracking cookies led them to an online account or email address that you've provided someone in the past.

In any case, it's not anything that would even cross my mind to worry about.

Maybe I am being paranoid, I am worried about any kickback on my end, for example, when I clean viruses from people's pc's, I normally would go to youtube to test video and visit other sites like ebay and amazon e.t.c to make sure their browsers are working fine with no hanging or pop-ups e.t.c. As in the example of mainly youtube where people download stuff all the time, if a customer is doing that and youtube is tracking them I don't want my ip address to show that I am or was connected to that person's pc.

It sounds like you are remoting into someone's PC to aid them. Similar to Remote Desktop or Remote Assistance. In that case, they are not using your Internet Connection when your browse a site on their machine. The remote software would know your IP address and I can imagine that the ISPs would be able to track your remote connection. Having an ISP do that is most feasible if you committed a felony or a federal crime... in addition proving that it was you behind that computer remoted in is another difficulty.

So I wouldn't worry about it. I'd so the common sense thing. After you are done, have them test it on their own, not you typing or moving the mouse.

I am not worried about a customer's ISP knowing my IP address, just not any site on the net having that info so a customer's doings on the net will not affect me.
