How to change the drive letter?

I just did a fresh install WinXP Pro but the hardrive is assigned as E and the internal Zip Drive as C. How to change it back to normal: hardrive is C and Zip Drive is E?

Your best bet is probably to reinstall with the zip drive temporarily removed (or do something to prevent it from getting c: again). There may be ways around your problem but so long as you don't have too much effort invested into the install yet, a clean, proper install will make things easier.

Start menu -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools. Click Computer Management, then click Storage, then Disk Management. From here, you can right-click a drive/partition and change the letter assignment. However, at this point, I'm not sure if I'd trust Windows to change my drive letters. In fact, YMMV! Plus, you'd have to say change the zip drive to some other letter, then have the main hard drive be c:, then the zip drive to whatever you want, although it should take the next drive letter. But, with your windows install already pointing to some other drive, I'm not sure if it would do any good. Partition Magic, for instance, has a drive letter program that I believe is better than Windows, but still, it sorta sucks when your windows install doesn't goto C:... Are you sure your hard drive is set to master?

Yes, the hardrive is the master. This is the old system with Win98SE on it, I zeros the drive and put new WinXP Pro on it and found out only when trying to update the video driver, it's keep saying is the drive doesn't have enough space, double check and saw the Zip is C and hardrive is E. I think I need to reinstall windows again and trying not to let it happens one more time. This is the one I build last year and was running fine with 98SE, just want to upgrade to fresh install Win XP Pro but...

you may have to assign a higher letter to have c reassigned to the sys drive,which is what windows likes

You can't change the Drive letter of the drive where Winders is running from. There are a few 3rd party utilities to do this, as well as LONG instructions out on the internet how to do it manually.

Is your hard drive jumpered properly? Is the Zip jumpered properly? Do you have the HD in IDE 0 position on the mobo? It has to be a jumper issue.
