It's the same, normal part number as shown above. There are no '5' part numbers. Absolutely ZERO way to tell on the outside of the box or PCB or anything.
I took a look at their stock and grabbed the newest serial number. But I bet they were all C2s. Only the ROG boards got 'em first. I really hope my VI GENE from Amazon is a C2.

Why not just buy both from micro center then?

Hey guys, I just found out what's happenning in Japan.

Asus is releasing the c2 stepping boards to suppliers on Oct 16th, so they'll be in shops sson after. I ordered mine today ... I'm told to expect it on 20th. Been waiting a while for this, I'm getting the Asus Gryphon.

Thanks for your posts thus far, they've been helpful.
Now to decide on the ram & ssd.

What vendor let you order a C2 specifically? I also need a Gryphon.

The shop is "Applied", but I live in Japan. They know I've been waiting on the c2 step model for months, I always pester them to check with their supplier, last night we got the news.

Yes !! Got it on Sunday 20th, as the shop promised.
As someone else posted, the box had no indication that it was a c2 stepping board, part # did not have 5 and there was no c2 stepping sticker. I confirmed that I could return it if in fact it was c1. However it is indeed c2, verified by the UEFI and cpu-Z.

If I can work out how I will upload the pics.

I have been waiting to buy a ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard with the C2 stepping chip in the U. S. I asked around but not found anyone who has gotten one from Newegg and Newegg is no help if you call them. I got a list of authorized dealers off of ASRock's website. I contacted SuperBiiz.com and they checked their stock in the warehouse and sent me the following email confirming what they told me:

"
It’s nice to talk to you on phone. I just checked with our warehouse staff and confirmed that our MB-Z87EITX are all C2 version. For our return policy, please check http://www.superbiiz.com/rma.php.
"

Their price was the same as Neweggs but they had a $5 coupon code (until Oct 28th) under "Deals" on their homepage. ASRock is giving a $15 rebate on all Z87E-ITX motherboards purchased before October 28th, so after rebates the cost will be $130 delivered. I have gone ahead and ordered it.
I was a little hesitant to place the order because I have never done business with SuperBiiz but they checked out OK on Resellers Ratings. They shipped the motherboard the next day UPS and I will get it Monday, (I hope). This might be a good option for those looking for C2 boards as they will check their stock, at least for the ASRocks. If I have any problems I will let you know.

Wanted to let you all know, I got an Asrock Z87 Extreme4 that was purchased at MC last week. C1 stepping.

They're still out there.

Just purchased two Asrock Z87M OC Formula motherboards from Newegg and both were C1. They're on their way back to Newegg already.

I purchased an ASUS B85M-E/CSM motherboard a couple of weeks ago, didn't know about the C1/C2 stepping issue before, so was wondering if this board is C1 or C2, here is a CPU-Z screenshot:

Your board isn't using the Z87 chipset: your CPU-Z screenshot shows "ID8C50 + Rev. 05" instead of where "Z87 + C1/C2" would appear.

Yes I know, but from what I've read in the last coupla hours seems that all 8-Series (Lynx Point) chipsets are affected by this S3/USB3 bug not just Z87, or not?

FYI for anyone still interested, I picked up another 4770K + Gigabyte Z87X UD4H combo from MC and they had Rev. 1.1 boards in stock. Finished the build and verified via CPU-Z that the Rev 1.1 boards are indeed C2 stepping (at least mine was). Not that the C1 has given me any real problems but for those interested the Rev 1.1 is clearly labeled on the barcode/serial # sticker for Gigabyte boards.

Just an UPDATE on the Asus Maximus VI HERO boards with part No: 90MB0FU0-M0AAY0 they also have C2

I see there is little info on new boards with C2 stepping Southbridge chips.

My Serial No starts with: E1MXXXXXXXX = Made January 2014 M=Motherboard

I bought the Asus M6H from the local TD store because:
1) Great Board + IN STOCK (got it for $185.99 they had it miss-marked, WIN)
2) Easy to return if NO C2 Stepping chip, didn't want to hassle with shipping back from online stores
3) Part No: 90MB0FU0-M0AAY0 lots of people saying had to end with M0AAY5 for C2
3) The ONE Gigabyte Z87X-UD5H was Rev1.0 (No info from them on C2 anywhere on web) Was not confident to purchase any version GA-87X board from gigabyte with zero info on C2 chips.

Gigabyte boards would have made my Hackintosh a much easier install, but glad to be back on Asus!

I'm using Clover for UEFI boot, man does it boot fast. (prob 5secs even with bois time)

So just to sum it up, Asus M6H built after October 2013 most likely have C2 stepping...
