How to choose where to download stuff in Edge

Anyone know how? So far it seems it just goes to the default folder. I haven't found an option to ask every time. Anyone know?

Presently, downloads will go only to one place. You can change the location in the Registry -- but still one place. There are a couple of threads at Microsoft where people are complaining about it -- including me. A Microsoft Tech wrote they are working on the issue. I replied to him that the issue needs "save as" to get fixed. I signed-up to the thread but have not seen anything more recent.

This issue plus a few others have caused me to make IE the default - at least until MS fixes a few of the issues with Edge.

I haven't tried this, but can you create a symbolic link, and does a GPO for folder redirection work?

Well it looks like you can only do it by the registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Main

In there, it should list Default Download Directory, and if not make a new String Value and add the location to where to you want the downloads to go

You probably are right. I did not think about it being a Metro app. That would explain a lot about its shortcomings.

Well it looks like you can only do it by the registry.

If you are willing to use the folder name "Downloads", you can change the location by just moving it in the properties of the User\Downloads folder. If you want to use a different folder name, then you must visit the registry.

I changed the location (to a different disk) for some of my User folders. Edge was smart enough to find Downloads, but not Favorites.
