Aaaaaaand you just double down on stupid, ugly, wrong, and weak! That's my Buckyball! Gods, I'm actually laughing out loud here. You're more butthurt than the guy who has to taste-test Taco Bell's new formulations, aren't you?

Keep it up, Bucky, this is comedy gold!

Somebody posted this who I have on ignore.

http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/article/lines_16

Common ancestry isn't evidence for mutation and selection being a viable mechanism for the biodiversity in living things.
The nested hierarchy is predicted by common anscestry, and it is what we observe in the mophological and geneological data. It's the confirmation of the theory's prediction -- that's what makes the theory valuable.

Creationism does not make those same predictions. That's why it is so useless.

I feel bad for him. He's had at least three train wreck threads like this on the same subject that I can recall. My suspicion is this is some sort of catharsis for him. Most creationists I come across do not care about the evidence refuting their beliefs. They don't know it, don't want to know it, will ignore or ask you to stop providing it to them and are blissfully happy to live their lives in that bubble of ignorance.

Shat apparently cannot reconcile his faith with the evolutionary biology field being out in the wilds of the world, unable to simply trust in the book and not care what all the pesky science says, hence why I see this as his 'faith catharsis'. It being coming on an internet forum to engage other posters, who have varying degrees of understanding of the evidence for evolutionary biology, then engage them with circular broken logic, willful ignorance, ignoring evidence and essentially just spamming a thread endlessly until no one can be bothered to reply anymore - ending up with the last word. Getting that final say amounts to a debunking of evolution and gives him the feeling of being in his creationist safe space. Having all on his own, buckshat24 of ATP&N, once and for all debunked centuries of knowledge and evidence gathered supporting evolutionary biology. This great feat accomplished with nothing more than statements that amount to repeating 'it's just not believable'. Imagine him trying this in a graduate class on the subject at a university, it would never work. Nonsense spamming appears to work for him here though, at least it appears to him that it works.

You can look back in the forum history to find this same meltdown played out before; pages of spamming nonsense, to then end in frustration and anger at getting piled on.

That is my Theory of the Buckshat24 Evolution Denial Routine.

He doesn't care about the science either. He's been asked on countless occasions what evidence he would accept that would prove evolution to him and he always, always refuses to answer. That's how you know he isn't coming from an honest place.

This is a great theory and as we have facts that support it, you get my full support as a peer review that this is accurate with our current knowledge and understanding of Buckshat.

Turkey to stop teaching evolution in high school

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/06/23/middleeast/turkey-to-stop-teaching-evolution/index.html

Turkish high school students will no longer be taught the theory of evolution.
The subject has been cut from the curriculum under changes made to eliminate "controversial" topics, the head of the national board of education, Alpaslan Durmus, announced in a video address.

Erdogan has been vocal about wanting to raise "a pious generation."

This seems to be the go-to tactics/politics around the globe for the last couple of decades, be it right wing America, Afghan Taliban, North Korea, ISIS etc etc. Reduce education increase religon maintain power. How do we combat this trend, is it time for a few good men and women to do something different than nothing?

Um, how does not teaching evolution keep people "stupid and uninformed"?

Do you know that throughout history some of the greatest minds in human history did NOT know about evolution as it now stands because it wasn't a mainstream theory? These include both religious and atheistic thinkers.

Being stupid and uninformed is linked with not being open to what's going on around you.

Much like Trump, don't focus on the words. Look at the intent. It's a slow suppression of widely accepted scientific theory that is the real concern here. Look at the long play. It's to suppress skepticism, free thought and scientific discovery.

I'm sure during the days of Ptolemy and for the 1500 years afterward, people were saying the same thing about geocentrism.

Considering there's still people who believe the earth is flat/is the center of everything, it's silly to claim this is 'no big deal' because of a few nutters.

Hiding known and accepted information from citizens is intellectually dishonest, and frankly creepy as shit coming from those who are supposed to be our leaders.

I think my point is that every generation has it set of facts, and anyone during said generation who doesn't accept those facts are "stupid and uninformed" until the next generation supersedes those facts and call people who don't accept theirs "stupid and uninformed" and wash, rinse, and repeat.

Uhhh Evolution gained acceptance in the mid/late 1800's. It was legally protected in 1968. That's more than "a generation". The entire premise of science is evolution of itself. We grow and challenge previous theories. Build on them. Tear them down. Improve. Both through discovery and better models. Suppressing that suppresses advancement.

I think you're missing my point. Its not about evolution. Its about that just because something is "widely accepted" doesn't mean much. Consider this. Geocentrism was "widely accepted" based on "the best evidence available". Spontaneous generation, Continental Drift denial, Steady State theory, and many others things were accepted at the times. But they are retrospectively called "uninformed" and looking back, we can say that they called people who rejected those theories "uninformed".

Doesn't matter if those theories were built upon. At the times, there were no better explanations, but we have better ones.

So it best to stop being so arrogant and learn from history.

So instead of arguing in circles, just answer the question - do you think it's in good faith that scientific suppression is being suggested by the leader of a country?

Simple yes or no.

Just because you fail to understand what I said doesn't mean we are arguing in circles. And your question is nonsense. Science is not a one-size-fits-all thing. There are many branches of science.

A more accurate question and one I will answer is "Do you think its in good faith that suppression of evolution is being suggested by a leader of a country?"

I personally believe that pubic schools should teach whatever is accepted as mainstream in the scientific community. Want to "teach the controversy", do it at home or in Church.
