How to convert rm (realmedia) to divx?

rm's are very low bitrate with very low quality.. you wouldn't save much if any space by conversion. All you would do is lower the quality even further.

To my knowledge, you can't convert it. I have been looking for awhile and so far no luck.

what he's pointing out is you may not save any space and if your doing this with pirated anime, why bother.. someone has aleady encoded the thing in divx from a clean source, y ou just have to look for it. better yet, rent the dvd.

so what was wrong with your original question? its a waste of time.. why bother.. how low can you go..you can afford a pc/net connection and have to rely on rm's? hahahaahah

Ok let me try to explain this in a very detailed manner. There are many reasons why I'd rather have a divx file than a rm file, even if I didnt save space. I'd be able to play it in media player, and uninstall that crappy realplayer. I'd also be able to actually change the properties of the video in a way as to copy them to my pocket pc. Cant play rms with ppcs. These are south park episodes. For some reason, theyre basically encoded only in rm. I've made a few divx sp episodes myself, and they come out much better.

Whats wrong with my attitude? I'm f*cking sensitive.

we kind of understand that, its just that its pretty much futile. people have wanted to convert real media for a while. as for pocket pc's running divx, are you sure your pda has enough power to run divx?

Yes. A low bitrate stream (200-300kbps) with a res of 320x240 or less should be able to be handled by a 200 mhz processor it seems. They already have it, if not in a mature way yet, I'm positive mpgs can be played using pockettv. Theres GOT to be a program out there that can do it, even if its just capturing the output image and reencoding it.

There is a Media Cleaner Pro version that will work with .rm files. That might be able to convert from .rm to .avi. Then you can encode to divx

Snagit can capture any area on your screen to AVI (raw uncompressed I think).

(I KNOW this works, I've used it to convert some anime RM files to AVI to rip frames for animated gifs, it's also useful for viewing a corrupt GIF(won't open in editor, but plays) to recreate an AVI to make into a new GIF.)

From there, just encode it with DivX. (I know nothing about this.)
