Is she wanting to cook it plain, or with something? When Iu make runza's I just cook the cabbage in the hamburger. Brown hambuger, drain then add cabbage and cook a bit longer until the cabbage is cabbage-ish.

If you were from California, Japan, or someplace like that, you would place the cabbage in a steamer basket and steam until the color turns a brighter green. It will be tender, crunchy, and flavorful without the sulfur taste. If you were English, German, or from any place in the great white north you would boil the bejeebers out of it until it was absolutely wilted, grey, and dead looking. Cooking it with pork or corned beef is always good.

Chinese way (sour, sweet and spicy):
1. Cut the cabbage into thin slice/strips.
2. Put 2 tbsp of cooking oil into a frying pan.
3. When the oil is hot, put the cabbage in and start stirring.
4. Cook it for about 3 minutes, and then add vinegar, sugar and salt.
5. Continue to cook until the cabbage totally gets soft.
6. Remove the cabbage onto a plate.
7. Using the same frying pan (w/o rinsing), add 2 tbsp more oil.
8. When this is hot again, add 2 dried whole chili peppers.
9. Before the peppers start getting burnt, add the cabbage back and give a quick stir.
10. Serve and eat.

easiest way:

Slice cabbage into quarters, put in pot with 1/2 inch of water, cook on medium heat till tender... you can pierce it with a fork to the center and the fork slides easily back out.

place a pat of butter on top and salt and pepper liberally.

eat it raw if you'd like to vomit(hyperbole). I got it mixed up with lettuce before, put it in my sandwich, and needless to say my sandwich was ruined.
