Hello, I'm using i3 2120 processor with integrated graphics. The vga driver I think is current (ends with digits 509). Is there any way to make these graphics run better? Overclocking? Adjustments on the intels graphics and media control panel? Any smart tweaks known by technically literate and those experienced with this chip? Also on dxdiag it says I have 1750mb but in GTA4 it says I only have 121mb

Either by some Intel Tuning utilty or bios (Remember GPU multiplier is double, so 22 = 11 x 100mhz.

You should be able to overclock to 1800/1900 depending on cooling.

Effect however isn't major, anywhere from 1% to 30% increase in performance.

Once ivy hits, that'll be interesting to OC both CPU and GPU with heavy cooling to see what you can reach

I found a way to overclock from 850mhz to 1250mhz. Not that bad. However now I'm more interested in video memory. So is it 1.7gb or 120mb? IF it's 1.7gb, how do I make it available? My PC is as is in the signature btw.

Usually you can adjust video memory in the bios. However I'm not to sure how well GTA4 is going to run on integrated graphics.

You should be able to overclock to 1800/1900 depending on cooling.

Some reviews seem to indicate that performance levels off after around 1500/1600MHz.

I've successfully run HD 3000 at around 1500MHz. Was able to play League of Legends just fine, but that isn't exactly a graphics monster.

Overclocking the SB IGP is likely significantly more effective with more memory bandwidth. Try DDR3 1866 or 2133 and it will probably scale significantly better.

Did you run it on max settings? What kind of framerate?

Lowest graphics, lowest resolution. It looked very shitty but there was almost no lag. I would have tried it on higher graphics, but settings of GTA 4 won't let me choose any higher options because it only sees 121mb video memory.
I just tried playing another game and it said I have about 250mb memory. So now three different applications tells me different things. What's the reality??

Also, I tried overclocking these integrated graphics, but once I go over 1350mhz, it becomes unstable. (switches from 1400mhz to 800mhz back and forth) And on 1500mhz graphic drivers stop working from time to time and then back on again.
The question is - would overvolting help? It is currently 1,5V, but there's a possibility to up it to 1,65V and 1,8V. Is it potentially dangerous to my CPU?? Would it help in overclocking integrated graphics?

Answer: They are all right. Intel's graphics uses DVMT(Dynamic Video Memory Technology) that adjusts amount of memory used depending on load to minimize performance loss and RAM usage. 1750MB is the max amount it can allocate if you have 4GB or more system memory. It's practically impossible to use that much though.

Maybe you can try running another application that uses video memory on the background to increase the usage.

Overclocking: 1350MHz is already a big bump fron i3-2120's 1100MHz graphics.

League of Legends for some reason is surprisingly demanding on graphics for how it looks like. You'd think it would run better than WoW, but its the opposite. I think it can do Medium with maybe 1-2 options at low at 20-40 fps.

Anyone know how much the HD 3000 will raise your cpu temps.
When i stopped using it my temps dropped about 5c with water.

Well with i3 2120 on idle it's the same 22-24C (same as if without integrated graphics). On medium load it's up to 35C. Haven't checked on full load. Temperature is not an issue, at least in my case(PC case too). Even when graphics are overclocked to max.

On my sb at 4700 I oc the GPU to 1300 short time later it crashed.
Dropped sb to 4600 GPU at 1300 still crashed temp around 24c.
I put it to 1100 default no more problems.
The only game on sb is ut3 which played good at 1200x1900.
I put in single 4890 and like desk top was so much better.
There was big difference in fonts lettering, color and the web.
When I get the Ib with almost double the graphics I will remove the dedicated card.

So what is overvolting seriously? Can it help me boost my integrated graphics clock?
I'm sorry I'm repeating myself, but I'm sure most of the people here know the answer and it would really be about time for me to find out what it is.
