I would take an air conditioned and dry 65-70 over anything hotter than that

Hes a stubborn moron. I think more than anything he is a clean freak, and thinks unless he opens the windows, its gonna start smelling or something. I should also mention he currently uses 6 different kinds of toothpaste. New one everyday.

100% agreed. I was actually just in myrtle beach last week and i actually love the weather down there. His room last night was 80 when i walked in there (insisted on leaving his window open), and i could hardly breathe in. It was literally like a sauna.

i feel bad. I've known him for a long time, and actually did punch him pretty hard in the chest back in high school for being an idiot.

I'm just telling him I'm not paying for the electric bill if he's gonna be an idiot. Seems fair enough. For 100 bucks i can deal with it and just stay in my room.

Concerning the A/c and pulling in fresh air - this is a feature you will rarely ever see in the south.

That said - I don't know how you think closing the windows in the morning will keep in cold air - if it's 90 degrees outside, closing the windows might allow the core of the house to retain some of the cooler air for a short time....but by late afternoon your house is going to be a fucking greenhouse.

Living in the coastal south, I don't understand how anyone lives without Air conditioning. I would never even consider living in a house without a/c where you live.

really depends on how the house was built, but either way the ac is going to have to go on at some point

I have had to deal with people like this for a living. (hvac mechanic by trad) i start a new job in three weeks.

I agree that you should close up the place if you have the a c running but you do need a bit of fresh air coming in. Open one or two windows a coupe of inches.

The ac unit is in his bedroom, it is designed to cool that room only, any spill over you get is a blessing. Window units have a plastic window that allows an intake of fresh air. Tell him to open that.
