How to delete Linux partition?

I have a drive I was playing with in my quest to learn a bit about Linux. Now, I want to get rid of the partition. How? Plain English please.

if you've got partition magic, then use that. otherwise fdisk works just fine.

fdisk, select hard disk if you've got more than one hd (5), delete partition (3), non dos partition (4), ...

if you've installed lilo, you'll want to fdisk /mbr to get lilo out of mbr... (if you're not sure, just do it anyways... shouldn't do any damage to other partitions/os's).

Sometimes DOS fdisk works, sometimes it doesn't.

If it doesn't the get Tom's root/boot DOS disk from my files, make the floppy, boot it, run fdisk /dev/hdx, where x is the drive you wish to nuke the partitions from. Type "m" for help.

use a diskmanager

example if u have a Wd hdd in yoru computer
and u have a maxtor which u have a linux partition on it
either use a maxtor diskmanager or Wd diskmanager
that will fix it

Easiest way, put your Linux CDROM in again, start up the install process, pick expert install and when you get to the fdisk program (Disk Druid, DiskDrak) use it to toast the partition. MSDOS fdisk has never worked for me in getting rid of linux partitions.

DOS fdisk doesn't work. Never has on any of the drives I've played with Linux on. When I was building my box, I removed the partition a few times with the low level format utility on the SCSI card.

The drive isn't in a computer anywhere, just laying on the bench, so the CD isn't really an option unless I want to get off my lazy butt and stick it in a system.
