how to do a pencil vdroop mod on the p5k vanilla

Hi... I never done a vdroop or vmod or any of those pencil mods before....
Now I know where in my mobo to do it ... thanks to this picture that refers to the vdroop mod on the p5k vanilla http://img459.imageshack.us/my...p5kvdrooppencilgh2.jpg

The problem is how do i do it??? Just use a regular pen and draw a line on top of that resistor in the pic? or how many lines or pls a lil more info id appreciate it...

Umm, no offense man, but if you don't understand that picture, I don't believe you understand how to do pencil mods, nor do I think you should be attempting them.

man i didnt say i dont understand the picture... im just askin how to apply pencil mod on that resistor marked with yellow.... just run the pencil a few times on top of that resistor?

Coz i tried it yesterday with a regular pencil ran maybe like 10 times on top of it and it didnt work... still see the vcore changes in bios and cpuz... The resistor is so small that a regular pencil can barely go over it... the resistor itself is the size of the tip of the pencil.... that why im askin... how do u apply it?

the best to use is a 2B pencil.

usually you only need about 2-4 strokes.

since it's your first time, place tape around the area so you don't get stray graphite on any other resistors.. if you do, you run the risk of shorting your board and killing your board (i've seen people do this before)

I thought P5K had the BIOS option equivalent to the pencil mod that lowers Vdroop? Pencil mod was for the P5B? Could be wrong though, but you should double check before you mod.

The bios for both the P5K Vanilla and P5K Deluxe both contain the "Enable Voltage Damper" line item, but it only actually works on the P5K Deluxe. Hence, why people are doing the pencil mod on the vanilla.

Yep... only on the deluxe the setting when enabled does its job... on the vanilla it doesnt do it..

I think im 2 lazy to go buy a 2b in staples or whatever... i guess ill survive like this... if not then i might go... I have it on 1.375v right now and it holds the overclock of 3.0ghz thats all i care right now...
