How to: Dual Boot

I'd like to dual boot Win2K Pro and RH Linux. What is the best way to do this? Also, will I need to reinstall Windows to do this?

Install Windows, install RedHat, make sure both boot. Not too hard. As long as you have free hard drive space for Linux you wouldnt have to reinstall Windows. I personally cant think of a good reason to dualboot unless you are developing software for multiple OSes, and even then seperate machines would be easier.

I'd just like to be able to use Linux on my nice PC. I want to slowly make the transition over to Linux for as many things as I can. My work is trying to migrate over to Linux as much as possible.

Good luck. Dualbooting never really worked for me. I would stay in one OS or the other and just have some wasted space on my hard drive.

But I need to feel very confortable in Linux before I can make a full move. I also like to play games alot, I hear Linux isn't too great for that. I don't have anything mission critical anyways, so if something goes wrong, oh well

You can re-partition your HDD using a non-destructive Partitioner (ie: Partition Magic) and resize your Windows partition thus freeing up space for your Linux installation. That way you won't have to reinstall Windows.

Try vmware - you won't have to do the dual boot at all.
I think it is the best idea if you want to migrate.
Another option is - try partitionless insatall of linux. AFAIK both mdk and rh support it.
