How to eliminate the network logon?

Does anyone know how to eliminate the network logon screen in win98 on bootup?

Find and delete the hidden system files *.pwl in your Windows directory. Reboot and simply hit enter at the network login password prompt; subsequent reboots should skip over the step entirely.

Keep in mind that if this system is on a domain, logging in is absolutely necessary; if this system is part of a workgroup, logging in *may* be necessary depending upon other computers in the workgroup (if they are NT or 2K) and the way permissions are set on those computers.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I have a cable modem, I wonder if there will be any "unforseen" compilcations.

no there shouldnt be any problems, that logon is jus a bs windows logon, nothing to do with ur cable modem's authentication process or anything like that....

Go the the options screen for networking and there should be a box that pops up that allows you to set and add/ remove protocalls, such as Microsoft Client Protocall, IPX, etc... Under all of that there should be a small drop down menu that will be set on I think it is Microsoft Client Networking, so something like that. anyway that is not important.. the other option is. It should be "Windows Logon". Select that and reboot. The only difference now is Windows wont check your network staus and report errors at boot(not important to you).

Note: there are only two different options under this dropdown menu.
