The people who game the system are out-breeding those who work for a living.
If I remember right something like 40% of American households get some kind of assistance from the government.
I think people turning to the government is a sign of the times. The jobs that supported the middle class are gone, college can cost a fortune,,, so why not turn to the government for help.
If you want to ensure the financial future of your child, do not send them to college, do not send them to trade school, just get them on SSI.
So, uhh, the fabled Job Creators turned out to be the Lootocracy?
Funny how that works.
Truth is that they dumped their frumpy old American Workforce for a hot new Chinese mistress, a real slut, who'll do anything they ask for nearly nothing.
Between that and automation, there are increasingly limited employment opportunities in this country, but Righties still operate on the mindset that jobs are plentiful, more work is needed, and that resources are infinite & freely available, just like when the frontier was open. Too bad that their capitalist idols don't see it the same way.
Even as employment becomes more & more a privilege for the few, they see it in moralistic terms of laziness & sloth, of somehow being morally superior by dint of employment, when luck is more a factor than they can comprehend.
As Moonbeam referenced earlier, there are millions on welfare and millions on millions of low wage jobs there for the taking, but only in their imaginations. Robots & Chinese get those jobs to pad the profit margins of people whose incomes are enormous & whose purposes are merely to win & to obtain more power. They don't need for us to work at all, for the most part. They let us work, sometimes, just enough to service the debt on the money they lend us & to get by, never get ahead. At least that's their ideal situation.
We remain the richest nation on earth, but we've somehow lost track of how to share it constructively, mired in the ideology of selfish greed. Some are manipulated into accepting that ideology willingly, even when it's against their own interests. It's easy to convince us that we're somehow superior, and that those more unfortunate are inferior, because it's what we've been taught our whole lives. Our pride & sense of self worth is double edged, used both to enable ourselves & to vilify others.
