how to enter BIOS

A very simple question but I cannot seem to get into my BIOS on a laptop I have.

I have Compaq 910 US lappy and trying to enter the BIOS settings. When I boot the PC it says press F10 to enter settings but all I get is a beeping sound when I do that and then it starts WinXP.

Any help would be appreciated

Compaq huh? Could be Delete, F1, F2, F10, F12...hell, I say try them all

Just tried again thing I did not press the key in time for it to enter BIOS

Finally got it to work after hitting all the key to try to get into BIOS and trying the F10 key again. Thanks for the help everyone.

Usually when I go into bios (which is about all the time) I play a nice tune with my bios key (delete), like DEL DEL DEL DEL DEL, DEL DEL. Hit it multiple times to make sure your comp registers it. Sometimes I'll hit it once and it'll just boot up, so.
