Stupid little tiny flying bugs. I usually get a few if I leave fruit sitting around, but then they go away. This time, I have a lot. No fruit. I've been cleaning like crazy but they're still there.

Destruction? Help?

Or overreacting. I hear overreacting helps.

Re: OP: Dunno. Are you sure you've checked everything? Maybe they're attracted to something in your garbage disposal or some other hard-to-get-to spot.

They also like potted plants.

To kill them fill a brandy sniffer or wine glass half way with vinegar (cider vinegar works best), put in a couple of drops of dish soap.

They're attracted to the vinegar, but the dish soap raises the meniscus higher than what they expect so they slide in.

You really need to find the source (what's attracting them) and get rid of it. Is it normal to have "a few" that go away?? I'm not sure I've ever seen a fruit fly in my house.

Also, are you sure they're fruit flies and not the little black knats you get in house plants? The source and eradication methods differ.

They are only attracted to rotting/overripe fruits and vegetables- things that give off a strong scent.

first, take out the goddamn garbage

then take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
