How to extend router signal?

Hi,
My parents leave in an big apartment with several concrete walls. The router is located at what a little "computer room", so my dad has a hard time getting a signal when he is at his room, on the other side of the apartment.

How can I help him?
Get one of those antenna booster?
Or what I need is something like a wireless replicator, a point of access?

What will actually work?

I appreciate your links. I read through them, but it's a bit too technical for me.
I explained my situation, what do you guys suggest?

I have wired internet in several rooms in the house, but the wireless router in in let's call room 1
On room 4, the wireless signal is very weak so we are trying to expand wi-fi signal across the house

Could I just another wireless router to a net cable closer to room 4?

What are the suggestions on that to do?

You can either get a wireless access point and put in one of your wired ports at the far side of the apartment or get a wireless router that you can turn off the firewall and DHCP server and use it as just an access point

Buy a second Wireless Router.

Plug it to the closet Network port to room 4, and configure it like this.

If you do not understand the configuration process you need to get some one to do for you coz there is No Automatic solution to your quest.

Guys. I just found that there isn't a wired terminal closer to the computer. So I guess the idea of another router is not going to work.
What are my opinions now?

The router I have is a linksys WRT54GL. I just talked to support and they said I need to get 2 access points?
I don't understand. I thought this router is already one access point.

Check out some high-gain antennas on ebay. Here's one:

I can't vouch for these but it might help your problem and is pretty easy to install and on the pocketbook.

p.s. Make sure the antennas on the WRT54GL come off. I'm pretty sure they do.

They basically suggested to you to get more AP and do one of the suggestions that is in my links above.

With all due respect the content of the info in my links is as simple as it can get.

If you are Not inclined to try to learn the subject, pay some one to do the work for you.

Otherwise get a long Cat5 cable and another router and run the cable as inconspicuous as you can to get the second router (working as a switch/AP) into the room you need it in.

Does your router have removable antenna connectors? If so, grab a high gain panel antenna. It should improve the signal.
