How to extract spanned files by winzip?

here is my case, I have downloaded a series of files, named like x1.zip, x2.zip, ..., x12.zip, they are from one single big file.
when I tried to extract it, it said input the disk labeled no.1 into my C drive, i cannot figure out what to do, the file is there, the program is stupid and can not locate it. Can you help me?

I think WinZip has problems with spanned archives which weren't created by WinZip. Try PowerArchiver

I thought winzip files that were spanned are named *.zip, *.z01, *.z02, etc.

copy all files into one directory and use DOS PKunzip.com to extract them all at once.

PKUNZIP *.ZIP /y

WinZip does allow you to span, but was originally meant to spanned across several floppy's. Thus, one would simply write "disk 1" on the floppy.

If the original person that packed the ZIP files did not make it obvious what is the "disc 1" then it's their fault, not WinZip.

I only use WinZip for general zipping, and use WinRAR for custom stuff (compresses and spans MUCH better too).

Normally, to extract a spanned ZIP file one would simply insert the last disk (floppy) then execute, then it would ask you to insert the first disk (floppy). While this is not efficient, it's the way WinZip does spanning. This is an old feature from the "floppy" days
