Split everything down the middle to avoid huge conflicts.

"Oh I don't use the AC, but you're computer is using up huge amounts of energy."

It's just easier to split it up.

If you use the cable at all, pay an equal share.
If you use the electricity at all, pay an equal share.
If you think your roommates are making poor energy conservation choices, talk to them about it and not Anandtech.

Split everything equally is best. Think of any added expense as paying for not having to waste your time with continual arguments.

No sh!t. I don't give a crap if you live there 2 days out of the month bc you're traveling or at your sig-o's house all the time. You "live" there, you pay 1/2 or divided by the total number of roomies. Just that simple.

Not so fast!! Everyone needs to keep an exact tally of how much water, electricity, cable, internet, and gas (if used). Then have a calculation of how much per usage of each utility or percentage of ulitity (in cases of cable and internet). There will also be a "punishment" charge for not keeping your own tally. This is the only way to do this as commanded by the holy book.

$ / # of People

Only thing which could be split differently is rent...say you have a smaller room and another has a larger room, do 60/40 or something.

Unless the other person has something which obviously uses a TON of electricity or whatever to run, then just split it.

i had an apt once where I took the master bedroom, extremely bigger than the other bedroom. We split rent, electric, and gas down the middle, but I volunteered to pay the cable\internet on my own to make up for the bigger room. He was cool with that.

Killawatt everywhere, then calculate the cost (expect cheating)

Going back to the split by person
