That's good, stick a average moron inside a 5' x 5' room or other tight area with a aggravated Cobra or other venomous snake and see who comes out breathing.

Too many wannabe tough guys in this thread.

Stop watching karate flicks and put the bong down.

or it's called a fucking example dip shit. i am talking about human hand speed and fast twitch muscle reaction vs another animal with very quick speed and reaction. No where did I say a human is going to kill a snake because of their hand speed. btw I have killed a fucking poisonous snake before, threw a goddamn rock on it and it fucking died. Rattlesnakes are retarded, there's a reason we're higher up on the food chain than them.

Doesn't matter if you're fat or skinny, if you don't see it coming and a dog nails you in a bad spot, gamer over. Some breeds easily push 180 lbs plus, 200 lbs is not rare. Obviously dogs can be stopped, but all the chest pumping in this thread is comical.

bullshit. sorry you are fucking an idiot if you think some breeds EASILY push 180 to 200 lbs, VERY VERY few breeds can even get that big and most are sluggish idiots(like a Neapolitan Mastiff). Have you ever been around dogs that big? Also, like I said it is ONE swift shot to the throat and they are done. It doesn't take much to crush their wind pipe and pretty much anyone over 125 lbs should be able to muster enough force with their first or knee to do it.

With any animal and you are in survivalist mode and the animal has made contact, go for the eyes. Eyes are the weakest, undefended, extreme pain causing part that is on any animal. Pulling away from something like a dog is problematic because the teeth are angled so that if you pull you make the teeth dig deeper. Ears are another good target, jabbing fingers into the ear canal will cause a lot of pain.

The issue with any kind of attack though is fear, fear causes people to stop thinking about what they can do and start panicking and they lose all control. I have never run from a dog, only been in the situation where one was really threatening me and we had a shouting match between the two of us on who was the biggest threat, the dog backed off

I wonder if the dog would freak out if I bit his ear off? Or tried to bit his throat?

Or if I attempted "Monkey Steals the Peach" on him.

My dog put 22 stitches in the air conditioner repair guy's arm. The landlord failed to inform us, knowing that we had a dog in the back yard, that the HVAC guy was going to stop by. Yeah, Hoss jumped on him and tore him up good.

I've also seen military working dogs at work and good luck with them, they'll tear you apart until they're ordered to stop.

Hm.. that's not what my uncle, the one who taught me how to kill a dog attacking you, says about them. He told me the had to stop sending them after the Koreans that would sneak into the Naval base he was stationed at because they kept winding up dead. That's where he learned what he taught me.

Internet hardasses like BFDD bring this forum's general intelligence level down a few notches. Grow up. How old are you, 12? 13?

I'm not trying to be a hardass, I'm just not afraid of dogs and never have been. My uncle taught me that when I was younger because I was constantly being bitten and what not by dogs due to always trying to be friendly with them. So fuck you if I don't think killing a dog is hard.

As a dog trainer perhaps I can provide some insight. It is 'sport' training, but it's akin to self-defense training. They are put in real life situations, but dogs trained in protection should only attack as a last resort, and only with a handler present. Dogs that are are trained in protection are meant to deal with a threat so that its owner can do what is necessary to survive (call for help, grab a gun, etc).

Dogs that don't have the proper temperament are often trained, and often half-heartedly. These unstable dogs are the most dangerous because they will not respond to a call off.

In either of these cases, if you are on the receiving end of a true protection dog, it will not back down, and will not release its grip. The most important thing to do is not squirm, as that dog's jaw is not going to come loose, and they are taught to keep biting until the target stops moving.

Your best chance is to try to choke a dog out. If you have keys, using them as a weapon and going for the throat is still the idea. It is the weakest part of the dog.

The majority of other dogs are only aggressive out of fear and typically conceding space while not turning your back is enough to defuse a situation. Very few dogs have "defense drive", which is why it's very difficult for dogs to pass the 'courage test' for PSA, Schutzund, etc. However, almost all dogs have prey drive to a certain extent, which means they will chase what they perceive as prey.

Or it's called you speak from your ass.

Any idiot can see a snake on the ground and throw something on it's head. Why somebody would do that is perplexing and rather disturbing. Anyway, how come you didn't use your lightning reflexes to bend down and just grab it? I'm sure you're highly trained, you know so much about twitch reflexes and fast reaction times, you could have grabbed it's head mid strike and taken care of business.

I used an example that a average moron would stand no chance against a snake in a small enclosed area. Most snake bites happen when a person tries to get close to it to kill it or capture it. Even professionals who know how to handle snakes get bit. It's more than just fast reaction time. They are actually very accurate when they target you for a bite.

Some breeds push 180 plus pounds, go read. I had a Rott that was 150 pounds and he was agile. Yes I've been around Mastiffs(English Mastiffs can be up to 250 pounds), Saint Bernards, Newfoundlands, etc..I've seen Pit Bulls that are over 100 pounds. Either way it doesn't take a huge dog for there to be an issue. The problem with one swift shot to the dog's throat is where they bite you first and if you can get a shot in. If they happen to rip into your face, your nuts, your throat, etc.. first... I doubt you'll be doing Chuck Norris moves. Point is there's variables involved and dogs don't always go for your arms first.

Avoid its teeth, Dogs aren't really that dangerous of an animal compared to a wild animal, there are reasons why they are domesticated and sold as pets. Cause they really aren't all that threatening. We aren't talking about a wolf, a bear or another frightening wild animal. Unless the dog is a dog trained to attack someone they tend to be fairly harmless.

wow...just wow.

BTW where the fuck did you hang out when young, a dog fighting arena?

You probably don't think killing Chuck Norris is hard either, just a old heavyweight champ that's now just an actor; right?

push one's hand as far down the throat of the dog as possible and lock the other free arm around its neck or punch it on the nose

Has anyone ever seen or watched a person fight off a large (pitbull) dog attack successfully, without the use of a firearm or large weapon? I don't think I've ever heard of this happening.

I remember hearing back in the late 90's about one of the Gracie's choking out a pit bull that was on a rampage in Brazil.

Let me know next time you're out near Fort Riley, KS and I will see if I can setup a demonstration with the MWD guys here on post. We'll see how bad ass you are then.
