How to find out the HD serial #

I have a dedicated server and it has several hard drives which are of the same make and model. I need to remove two of them, but I need the serial numbers so they won't pull the wrong ones. Is there a program that correlates the hd serial number to a variable in device manager or volume manager?

On my seagate cheapo drive HDTune will pull the serial number, it's also printed on the drive label.

Seatools will also get the serial number too, I'm assuming WD/Hitachi/whatever have similar software.

edit: hmm var in device manager... if you click on the drive and hit populate it will tell you what partitions are part of what drive

The problem is, all the smart tools do what they are supposed to do, but fail to report the mounted drive letter. I have two variables and nothing to connect them. So I have all the serial numbers, but i don't know which one is say, my F drive and which is is my E drive

If you pull the cover off the side of the case, you might be able to run a program like scandisk on just one drive and then feel which drive is running nonstop.

Sometimes if you pull a drive out, the OS will just dynamically alter all the drive letters. So you need to think about possibly manually assigning drive letters outside the normal range.

FYI, I solved this by just downloading the WD utility. simple does it.
