Here is my setup:
Athlon Thunderbird 750 slot a
gigabyte 7ix
CL Geforce 2 gts
philips 109b 19" monitor
256ram
30 gb hd :win2k pro, directx8.0,latest detonator drivers
13 gb hd :rh6.2
Basically here is my problem. This monitor can display 256/16/32bit on 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024,1600x1200 at 85hz and ONLY 85 hz (well other than 60).. What happens is that for some reason when I launch an app that automatically switches the monitor to 640x480, for example, the refresh rate gets set to 75Hz. I want it to be 85Hz but even if I launch this app (Starcraft) while in 640x480 mode on the desktop, it for some god-forsaken reason sets itself to 75Hz. I just got rid of win98, but in that OS it would "remember" each refresh rate for each colordepth x resolution. I do not really need to play games on my comp, I just want starcraft . I looked around the knowledge base and found little. Is there a registry setting that I can change to force certain refresh rates to be used at certain resolutions??
thanks for any help
-young, frustrated but will NOT reinstall win98
