Stepped in a gigantic gum wad today and accidentally dragged it into my 1 month old car... Its everywhere now on the mat, any hope at getting it off?

(Not kidding, its at least 5-6" long, by 1-2" wide.....)

put ice on it
after it is nice and cold, it will become brittle
you can then break it, like with a hammer/chisel or something

I didnt think you could use Goo Gone on carpet.. i've only used it on glass to get stickers off... Plus, the citrus smell never seems to go away...

DONT USE GOO GONE ON A BRAND NEW CAR! lol it will wear away some of the new "fuzz" on your mats and will leave a mark...

freeze it off or go mix up a solution of rubbing alchohol and some carpet cleaner, i used it to get gum and stuck lollypops/candy off of carpets all the time when i used to detail back in HS..

meh

lay ice on it, you shouldnt have to cut it off, that and scraping it followed with some Spot Shot carpet cleaner should do it.

check the goo gone, label, great stuff, you could probably test it on your carpet elsewhere in the car (trunk maybe) to see if it will damage the color, if not, ice, scrape and finish it off with that. after that a drycleaner can get it off, shouldnt cost too much, its easily done.

Citrus-oil based cleaner was used for cleaning tar, etc. out of carpet probably long before the brand "goo-gone" came about - certainly before it became popular. It will certainly stain latex based paint depending on the substrate and type of paint, but I've never seen it peel paint. Are you sure you aren't thinking of Goof-Off?

from the other goo-gone thread that died after I posted that question.

The key to removing the gum is to use lighter fluid. trust me on this one.

I somehow sat on a piece of gum at the gym and found out it got on my (cloth)car seat after I arrived home. slowly blotch it with fluid and lightly rub it off. it will come out like magic.
no stains. might be a little more flammable, but no stains.

Ice isn't really cold enough to do that well.

Got any compressed air? That should freeze it fairly well.

Either that or highly volatile chemicals that won't leave anything behind.

For whatever reason, I read the thread title as:

How to get a bum out of my car?

Do i turn the compressed air upsidedown to get it cold? I seem to remember getting a burn on my hand last year from a upsidedown canned air...
