How to get TIVO?

What all do I need to hook up a TIVO system on my main rig. I've seen some software called windows media center, but I don't have that. What software can I download to get a TIVO system set up?

TiVo and Windows XP Media Center are two completely different things. You do not hook up a tivo to your PC. To get WinXP media center you have to buy a machine from Dell, Gateway etc

Ok ya, well I didnt know. But Windows Media center also allows you to record TV just like TIVO does so aren't they essentially the same thing?

Tivo is a brand name for a technology called a DVR, or digital video recorder.

Check out MythTV. I've heard good things.

I have a DirecTiVo, and they just freaking rock!!! To hell with your PC acting as a DVR (unless that's your main TV). Get a set-top TiVo for your TV. You won't be dissapointed.
