I just built a new system, and I have the Xp home upgrade, how do I go about installing that onto a new computer with a new hard drive?
I've tried doing it on my own, and I set it up to boot from the cd player, well XP comes up and I have a 60gig HD, so it wants to know if I want to add more partions and which one to install it on...so I made 2 partitions, and I told it to install it to the first one...so it says its installing it, then it said it was done and wanted to restart the computer, so I restarted it, but first I went into BIOS and told it to now boot off the floppy and HD first....well for some reason it won't boot from the HD.
Another thing I have noticed is that when I first go into BIOS my HD doesn't show up, then after several seconds it shows up as my Primary Master. There is nothing else on the primary. When I start the computer up, when its shows its booting up, it says detecting Primary Master, and its takes a few seconds, then it says none. Is that because there is nothing on it, or do I have something hooked up wrong?
Last question Am I going to have any problem installing XP home Upgrade on my newly built computer, if I had it running on the old machine, and its now not running because I kept my case and dvd, burner, and sound card for new machine? I read something about having to call Micro$oft and getting a new activation code or something?
Thanks for any help!
