No, you're not a dummy. Try the following:
Copy the link provided when you updated your rig specs and paste it to the signature file. BUT.... add it as you would if you were creating a message with a link to another page. If you need help with the HTML syntax, use the http button tool as if you were creating or replying to a message, then insert your "http://www.anandtech.com/myanandtech.html?member=79482" and call the link "MY BLOWTORCH" (or whatever floats your boat). Next, cut and paste that to your signature in the member profile page. There may be other ways to do it but that's how I got mine to work.
