What you will need

2 to 3 single serve tea bags
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Coffee maker with 10 cup size, we bought ours at Target 4 years ago for like $5.

Put 2 to 3 single serve tea bags in the coffee filter area but do not use a coffee filter. Put the tea bags right over the filter opening to get a better concentrate.

Add about 9 to 10 cups water into the coffee machine measured from the coffee pot and brew.

After brewing, turn off the coffee pitcher and add 1/2 cup of sugar into the freshly brewed pot and stir, the sugar will melt instantly.

Pour a little cold water into a 2 quart pitcher and then add the brewed tea. Add extra cold water to make it a full 2 quarts. If you use 3 tea bags the tea will be strong and you will need to add ice when drinking it.

Put tea in the refrigerator and let cool for at least an hour and serve over ice. Do not put the tea over ice until it is at least room temp as it will melt the ice way too fast. Also if you don't like ice, you can use just 2 tea bags.

Using 1/2 cup of sugar for 2 quarts the tea is very sweet and still has less than 20 grams of sugar per 12 ounces and even less when you add ice. In comparison, a can of pepsi has 41 grams per 12 ounces.

Not only that but tea bags are super cheap and so is granulated sugar. It prob cost about 5 cents per glass to make if even that.

what's the color like on it? I love Tea, but 3 bags for 10 cups sounds crazy low. I make a pitcher and use 11 bags. I'm assuming this is very light see-thru like Sun Tea? I'll have to try it, never thought about using a lot less tea bags hummm

Using 3 tea bags and brewing 9 to 10 cups and adding water to make 2 quarts it is very very dark, darker than most ice tea served at restaurants. You have to put the tea bags right over the opening in the coffee filter area. I just brewed 2 quarts using 2 tea bags which is chilling in the fridge now and it is still very dark although not as dark as using 3 tea bags.

Overall an okay method, but the proper amount of sugar to add to tea before it is chilled is as much as you can possibly add before it comes out of suspension.

I use 4 bags for 2L. Bring approx 2L of water to a boil, turn off heat, add tea bags. After several hours when it's cooled down, pour it in a 2L pitcher, and top up with water as necessary. It's then ready. Add sugar for fail tea(I omit that step :^D)

does everyone have their own method or something? lol

I prefer 2 tea bags for 2 cups, brewed and chilled over night, and served straight over ice sweetened w/ agave nectar.

sweet tea is an invasive and disgusting concoction thought up by hillbillies in possum holler.

Sweet tea is the only consumable form of iced tea. And only lipton brewed in a pot over a stove with 5 cups of bleached white Imperial American sugar will do. Yup.

I don't like tea.

That is why I drink sweet tea.

If you drink sweet tea, then you don't really like tea.

I stopped adding sugar to tea or coffee and have almost completely replaced coffee with tea, except for the occasional coffee with breakfast.

Whereas iced tea... well, I haven't made that in a long ass time, but I think I'd probably still use sugar.

Do this but instead of sugar, add 8 equal packets, and 8 sweet-n-low packets. Voila, 0 calories.

I actually prefer my tea to have zero sugar and as such, zero sweetness.

I'm sweet enough already.

Ehhh ... I love tea, but sweat tea is meh ....
Also not a huge fan of Chai tea.

Sun tea is great, just don't add any contaminants .......
My favorite though, is hibicus tea... the flavor is just delicious ... tart and sour ... mmmmm
