Our local Wal-Marts all do Walmart pickup. I love it.

Download app, shop, choose pickup time, have someone load groceries into car. Done.
The local Kroger chain has been doing this, too. ClickList, they've named it. They've been promoting it pretty heavily with additional digital coupons for items purchased using the service. It's pretty clear they're worried about Amazon when they have store employees going around loading up shopping carts with your items and then delivering them to your car. Which is kind of ironic, considering that they now only open one or two checkout lanes during peak hours, along with up to 20 self-checkout stations.

My local Walmart just got trunk pickup a couple days ago, got a notification & hopped right on it! There's just no comparison for price. A gallon of whole milk at the grocery store is nearly $4, and was $1.78 at Walmart. No extra fee for the pickup service (I think it's like a $30 minimum?), no tipping allowed, and you don't have to go into Walmart! 10/10 will use again & probably forever lol.

Replace the tinfoil in your hat, the paranoia waves are still getting through. It's about the customer alright, but it's not to manipulate them. The market keeps changing, new categories are added, others have to grow, others shrink according to demand. There used to be no prepared foods, no salad bars, no natural or health foods, no bottled water, etc etc etc. The space is constantly reallocated to provide room for what the customers want to buy. Every retail store does stuff like that every day. Most of the time that takes place almost invisibly within the existing layout and old items are tossed out and new ones can be added into that space. Sometimes it requires a major overhaul. It pisses people off in the short term, so it's never done on a whim. But it makes the store better in the long run.

You sir, are incorrect. Have you worked in retail? Either you have not or you are an agent sent to calm the hysteria over store changes. It is IN FACT, a tool to keep people from making quick runs into a store. "End Caps" are the embodiment of the strayegy. Notice that they appear to be "specials" but they get moved mid week anyways. Ever notice how often they switch things around at the warehouse stores? It happens so frequently because it's just that much easier (forklifts and plenty of open space). At one warehoise club I worked at, Corporate even dictated how long things can stay in a space. For example, end caps are a few days, the "designated" slot in an aisle maybe a few weeks/months and a given aisle several months. Obvious exceptions exist. The goal is to keep people in the stores walking past items they may not have seen in the past. They are manipulating us (get woke).
