How to Output Video from Laptop to TV

Hey everyone,

my roommates and I recently bought a used Sony KDF-55E2000 Projection TV. The TV has HDMI, component, composite, and S-video inputs. My laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad T400. I think the only input I have is a 15-pin VGA. Before we bought the TV, we would use a projector which was simple. We would just a VGA to VGA cable for that. How would we go about outputing video from my laptop to the TV?

- What cable, etc. will we need?

not easily...you are looking for hd output I presume? maybe a USB-video card with dvi port? or do you have the port replicator for the laptop? Those usually have dvi port. If you have that, all you need is a dvi-hdmi cable for the video part.

I suppose non-HD is fine, as well. I'll look into the USB video card thing. My laptop has integrated graphics...no dvi port.

err, your notebook doesn't have composite out? like a yellow RCA jack?

Honestly, I can't recall the last time I saw composite out on a laptop. All my laptop has is USB, firewire, ethernet port, VGA, and a media card reader (SD, etc.)

My wife's C2D laptop has a composite out. It does make presentation easier if your client only has an old tube tv

There is obviously a composite video output on the back of the VUDU box, but is it possible to use the HDMI out at the same time as the composite output? For that fact does the composite output even work? I ask because I tried to hook up a small 8" monitor to my composite video output on the back and although I had my main TV plugged into the HDMI port, I got NO video output from the compsite video... I then attempted to try the composite through my TV and same thing... NO video...strange... any suggestions?
