I want to overclock my P4, but I have a dell mobo, and I can't find any options in the bios about the FSB or CPU, it only displays the information. Is there a program I can download to OC? Or am I stuck. Thanks for the help,

Dell generally locks their motherboards. I tried to OC my Dell P4 1.8ghz Northwood, but everytime i tried to tweak the settings the overclocking program would crash.

No OCing for you!

Sell that, & build a real PC ftw

Unless clockgen will work, you're not gonna OC a dell, period. Even if you do get clockgen to work, you'll have no memory divider or voltage options, so you won't get much more out of it.

My good advice is to listen to the previous posts or replace the motherboard

He can't even do that w/o a new case and PSU, b/c Dell has proprietary motherboards and PSUs that are not ATX.

Try using SoftFSB, CPUFSB, or ClockGen to see if you can get a bit out of your computer. I knew someone who tried that on his 2.2GHz Celeron and almost succeeded if the program would have supported his clock chip. Your chances are low though. And even if you do get a small OC, it won't be much of a performance increase.

Replace the MB, PSU, and case.... Then you'll be good to go, unless you have onboard video, then you'll need a new video card also. Even if you try a 'custom' BIOS' the motherboard is locked with a DELL only 'digital watermark', so the board will be useless with anything other then a DELL BIOS. Sorry d00d, you got a DELL...

More recent Dells have a standard ATX power connector instead of before where two wires were crossed. However everything else is proprietary. The PSU is about ATX size, but it mounts with 2 screws and some tabs in slots. The motherboard mounts with 1 screw and a bunch of tabs in slots.

Heres how you overclock your computer:

Step1: Smash your dell mobo to pieces
Step2: buy a DFI mobo
Step3: Overclock
