How to reduce gaming lag, while streaming video?

You may want to try running AsusWRT on it far better than stock firmware.

I was on stock for 2 hours after I bought the R7000 and haven't gone back since.

And if you have the time I would read all pages of the thread before flashing.

But with QOS off hulu can stream and my ping goes up to a steady 45ms, with some random spikes.

Does this happen if you bypass the router and plug in the pc directly to modem?

Yes traditional QOS is currently broken in Asus firmware but if you reverse them it works.

Glad its seems to be working good for you with QOS off.

so in this case upload speed is how fast my actual download speed is?

IE, right now I have 20/2 service

my upload should be max 20 (I've read it should be like 80% of that) and the download should be 2 (I've read it should be about 80% of the min upload speed I see)

Pinging 37.244.0.3 continuously from California now, streaming 1080P 60fps video from YouTube at the same time, it's always below 30ms. In weekdays this is absolutely over 200ms, or even 600ms like yours.

Router DD-WRT, not using QoS.

so asus-wrt helped some but still wasn't very stable.

so I went ahead and install DD-WRT,

QOS seems to be working. Havent tested with wife on hulu yet, but with wife on Netflix, and me playing overwatch, my ping is still close to 16ms as if she wasn't watching.

Hopefully this is now stable.
