News sites are the worst for that. It's like a set of Russian nesting dolls, except they expand exponentially. I usually say "fuck that", and go look at something else.

It's insane how bloated they are. I just want to read a freaking article, they need to get better webmasters. So much garbage javascript. Recipe sites are bad too... really most sites are now. I hate doing any kind of online research on any subject because like every site I land on is going to have some form of javascript annoyance. If yo use noscript you need to allow like 40 domains before the page even loads. Becomes a huge chore.

Someone (preferably in a country that the US has no power over so they don't get DMCAed) should make a crawler that regularly crawls all the internet and regenerates websites in a clean wikipedia like format. I don't even care if there's ads as long as they arn't annoying. Essentially it would be a giant wiki containing all textual info from most websites.

With regard to the topic, this scene from Blackadder 2 rings a bell:
E: I'm in love with my man servant.
W: Oh well, I'd sleep with him if I were you.
E: What?
W: When I fancy people, I sleep with them.
E: But what about my position, my social life?
W: Very well then. Three other paths are open to you. Three cunning plans to cure thy ailment.
E: Oh good.
W: The first is simple. Kill Bob!
E: Never.
W: Then try the second. Kill your self!
E: No. And the third?
W: The third is to ensure that no one else ever knows.
E: Ha, that sounds more like it. How?
W: Kill everybody in the whole world. Ah, ha, ha ...

TLDR: Good luck trying to part Google from its primary income source.

Make a trillion dollars, buy Alphabet and wipe the servers. Not that hard.

Damn, that's what I wanted to do with that money. Now I'll have to do it again, and see if I can remember what I wanted it for this time!

Something to force all web pages to be view-able in Reader View would be nice too.

I'm all about ditching google, but you're not exactly punishing them by deleting your stuff. They don't care that much. There may be mechanisms for deleting your data, but you're going on their word that it's actually deleted. I don't trust their word.

+1

Considering that they were ordered by the German government multiple times to delete a load of wifi network data they leeched while driving around in the Street View vans and still didn't do it...

Just verified it again. Just goto Youtube and type in Ingraham Angle full episode. You get a 1 second video showing The Ingraham Angle (insert 2019 date), the it says next video where there is something good to say about democrats.

Well, maybe I better wait until I get home, I am at a major hotel chain (Best Western). They can be filtering it. I will wait to verify when I return home tomorrow evening.

Now, I could understand why a hotel chain would do this--they are responsible for hundreds of souls at any given time. Filtering out crazified fake information that exists only to further crazify the GOP base is a good idea. These are hyper-violent people, and hotels have a responsibility to prevent as many mass killings as they can (always from crazy rightwingers, believing crazy bullshit like "the google is filtering my results!")

Google does filter results. They typically filter them in a direction the user wants, so everyone can have their own special echo chamber. Also stuff gets (de)prioritized according to whatever their current mood is. In any case, you're never getting raw results with google.

Dunno, about op's issue, or lack thereof. Not using google is always solid advice though.

Well, back home, I verified through use with my internet service provider.... All TIA (The Ingraham Angle) are all 2 seconds long. There is clippings from full episodes. Those ones do one of two things, show her talking bad about republicans, or good about democrats.... Makes me wonder how much money Google has tied up with the Bidens...

Instead of concocting conspiracy theories (especially ones that apparently revolve around only your computer! I mean wow, "The Bidens" must consider you to be a pretty important guy! Seen any black vans around? I think there was an episode of the X-Files where "they" messed with the water supply in Mulder's apartment...), I'd look for a simpler explanation. Like say an issue with your computer. Or say your ISP is doing something weird.

Maybe once you've fixed the problems you can get back to watching other people concoct your favourite conspiracy theories.
