How to remove Mail Trojan - everyone in Address book hit!

My nephew has a trojan on his new laptop running Windows 7 that has mailed out to everyone in his address book. I normally use my bootable Avast CD with newly downloaded signature files and that has, to date, solved all virus, malware, etc. problems (knock on wood).

However, after the reboot when Avast tries to load, the laptop BSOD's....!!! I have tried several times and everytime it seems to happen at a different point, but always does.

My other post has asked for a fix, and I could not find any so I thinnk I need to move on - Does anyone have any suggestions for an AV, preferably bootable, that can remove this virus? When I cleaned it from my son's p/c I neglected to get the name of it other than see that it was identified as a trojan.

First run TDSSKILLER, then RKILL then MBAM. Run ComboFix for good measure.

If you are more technical Hijack This can help a lot and opening up the registry to see whats loading and been highjacked.

Lately (past year) I've had good luck with Sardu. It's a boot usb that picks uses multiple rescue cd ISO's.
