The feature of content caching in Mac enables you to reduce internet consumption, and hence, accelerates downloads in Mac devices. When you download any cacheable content from the web like an app, a copy of the file is saved in Mac’s content Cache. This enables you to retrieve the file even without internet connection. ‘Content Caching’ is always activated in Mac by default, but you can access it manually as well. Here’s how you can run content Caching on Mac.
Step 1
Click ‘Sharing’
Navigate to the ‘System Preferences’ from the Apple ‘Menu’, and from there, select ‘Sharing’ option. It will open up a box with a list of services on the left.
Step 2
Select ‘Content Caching’
From the list of services, select ‘Content Caching’. It will show you the status of the service, that is, whether it is enabled or disabled.
Step 3
Click ‘Content Caching’
Hit the checkbox adjacent to ‘Content Caching’, the service gets enabled. As you enable the service, the status on the right of the box will read ‘On’.
Step 4
Click ‘Content Caching’
Now, you can also choose the content you want to cache. Look for the option ‘Cache’ on the right, and navigate to the drop down arrow. On clicking the arrow, you will have three options: ‘All Content’, ‘Only Shared Content’, and ‘Only i-Cloud Content’. Select the option you prefer.
