Nearly 20 years spent in WI now, and for all that time its been soda... and yes that's in the same areas others are claiming to be popland. Maybe there's some imposters...

Although not everything on the list is completely accurate, it is pretty amusing! As an ex-Wisconsinite (who shoveled enough snow by age 18 that I moved to the Northwest), I'd like to add that anyone who makes any smart remarks about sheepshead (a cardgame peculiar to the state) will also get their ass kicked. I also agree that "soda" was the operative term when I was growing up in Milwaukee. I think you can also attribute the tenor of the list to the disdain that most Wisconsinites have for the the many vacationers from Chicago and Illinois who flood the state every year. Gotsmack...maybe you've gotten smacked a little too much; a "bubbler" is the Wisconsin term for a drinking fountain. Garfang...I really hadn't expected to see any purple asses so soon after the finish of this football season. Waggy...seems like both teams finished their somewhat sorry seasons on the same weekend, and the Packers beat the Bears both times they played; wait till next year when they get their tougher schedule.

Ice Fishing is great as long as they're biting.
Deer Hunting is great as long as you shoot one

They sure do! It's in MN that you can't buy liquor anywhere but in "liquor stores," and never after 10 PM, nor on Sunday. Gas stations just across the river from us do some booming beer business on Sundays from us Minnesotans. In Eau Claire, the city or county may restrict sales, but the state certainly does not.

If you can't buy a case of Leinie's at a particular gas station in Wisconsin, then I think that's just because the Beer Enjoyment and Enforcement Regulation Squad hasn't kicked their ass yet.

As for UW Eau Claire, sure the campus may not sell, but unless things have seiously changed there's a street by the name of Water that sells anything but. I still miss the Comeraderie bar and their fried cheese curds. I hear it burned down.
