how to set up the DLC protocol...and install a hp network printer with win98 and win2k

i have a hp 4si with a jetdirect nic......and would like to install it as a network printer.......i have set up an ip addy in the printers menu, and .........used hp's config software.............i can ping it.........the printer sees the ping bits.......but the ping utility never sees the printer ping back,,,,,,,,,,,,,help......and thanks

Some HP printers won't work on a network without a jetdirect printer server.
