‘Hidden Files’ are certain files in your system that has the hidden attribute activated by default. Therefore, when you are browsing through your files in the system, these files will not be visible. Hidden files are meant to prevent a user from accidentally deleting any important data. But you can access them and unhide them as well. Here’s how you can share hidden files on Mac.
Step 1
Click ‘Launch Pad’
Select ‘Launch Pad’ from the dock at the bottom of the screen. It will open up a pane with multiple applications.
Step 2
Click ‘Others’
From the list of icons displayed on the ‘Launch Pad’, select ‘Other’ folder. It will open up another window with many applications.
Step 3
Click ‘Terminal’
Select ‘Terminal’ from ‘Other’ folder. A box will open up with codes written on it.
Step 4
Copy ‘Code’
Keep the code: ‘defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAll Files’ ‘YES’, handy on a clipboard. Copy the code. The code helps you to unhide the hidden files. Similarly, you can hide files using the code: ‘defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles’ ‘NO’
Step 5
Paste ‘Code’
Paste the code in the ‘Terminal’, and press ‘Enter’. Consequently, the hidden documents will appear on the desktop.
