How to stay in Chicago for 3 days underage

Alright, being that I'll be a tad short of 18 years old when I want to visit chicago in July (2 monthes, 3 days short!) My age seems to be a limiting factor of where I can stay.

- Hostels require 18+ to check in
- I don't want to find a stranger on Craigslist
- Hotels = 18+ ?
- I don't know anyone in Chicago to stay with.

My question is, am I overlooking any option? Do some hotels allow underage-ers to stay with a faxed parental consent/ downpayments/ whatever. Anything?

why not just make a reservation over the phone and prepay.

check in with the credit card you used to make the reservation.

If he has a credit card, it shouldn't be a problem if his parents ok it with the hotel first. Although the fact that he's going with 3 other minors doesn't bode well for the chances of the hotel being lenient.

Can't hurt to call up a few hotels and ask.

I stayed just outside of Chicago with another 17yo and 1 18yo when I was only 17.

Of course, we got to the hotel, they were like WTF... then felt bad because whoever did the reservation didn't bother to ask whether we were 21 or not, so they said fine, but expect for the staff to check up on us periodically and if any trouble we were out.

We caused trouble. They did not check up on us.

Youth hostels, by definition, allow underage check-ins.

You NEED to clear it in advance. When I worked at a hotel (Motel 6), we would turn people away all the time who were underage. That is even if they have reservations made with a CC and had it in their hand.

Well that's funny, because I stayed in the State College, PA Motel 6 when I was underage. Just walked in, gave them my credit card, and they gave me the key card. Don't worry about it, Chicago is a big place. If one hotel turns you away just go to the next one.

It is quite possible. When there is only one person working, it is up to that person to enforce policies. Some may not care, some may make an exception, it just depends. In general though....
