I know I keep asking random questions, but at least it keeps this awesome thread going.
I don't see why not. The aluminum looks pretty thick (around 3mm?) which means less hot-spotting and less of a tendency to warp. I find Calphalon handles to be very comfortable too. The only unknown is how long the non-stick coating will last, I suppose.

Tip: never use more than medium/medium-high heat on [most] non-stick cookware.

Made by All-Clad, and pretty cheap compared to buying seperately. The only thing that I don't like is that only the base is triple ply; the sides are single ply. Does this matter that much?
i don't know that i've ever seen multi-ply sides. you don't need them because the heat comes from the bottom. you need ply on the bottom because steel heats unevenly, leaving hot spots that scorch and burn.

You don't need a high-conductivity core up the sides for stuff like fry pans, but they're useful in sauciers and the like.

e.g. All-Clad saucier

*sniff...

I just bought a house recently and now have to furnish it, including all the kitchen utensils/essentials... knives, utensils, pots and pans... everything... (not to mention all furniture and decorations, but thats a different thread)... this thread rocks. First things first... need to buy forks, plates and bowls. Is going all Corelle a good idea? What are some good utensil sets?

That's what the Dutch oven is for.

Savarak, I honestly have no clue about servingware.

A nice alternative to a sharpening stone is the Henckels Twinsharp Knife Sharpener.

Product Features

* "Resets" a knife's edge; alternative to knife steel
* Employs steel and ceramic wheels to hone knife's edge
* Simple to use--draw knife through slot, toward your body
* Lifetime warranty against manufacturers defects

I've had great success with it to date. I will say though, it can and will 'mark' your blade eventually as you pass the knife through the sharpener.

From what I can see, that thing actually cuts at the edge. I can't see that it would be good for knives, especially ones of harder steel.

i wouldnt let one of my knives near one of those.

i need a new steele or honing stone, lost mine when i moved
id like the f dick multicut but i wont be getting one anytime soon.

to sharpen them (which i do once, maybe twice a year, and use for *all* cutting tools i have) is the spyderco sharpmaker

this thing can *easily* get anything sharp enough to take the hair off of your arm once you have a little practice with it.

Oven-safe to 450 degrees F
i'm not an expert but that seems kind of low for something all-metal

i swear by this thing
According to the Calphalon page, it's safe to basically any temp.

Have you had any problems with liquid splashing out of the jar of that blender? Is there a similar model but with a plastic jar? Murphy's Law applies everywhere.

if the liquid is up to the top and you don't have the cap on a little bit will shoot straight out the top. i pretty much keep the rubber part on it, add ice cubes through the small hole and then cover with my hand. sometimes i have a little margarita to lick off, but that's about it.

i don't know if anyone has that beehive jar in plastic, no. it is pretty darn sturdy, though i've never dropped it on the floor.
