How to Switch which monitor is ID #1 and ID #2?

I am having the hardest time with this. I have a projector that i ocasionly like to play games on but the games i play dont allow the resloltuion i want if the monitor/projector im using is not montior with ID #1. Is there a definitive way of switching which monitor is #1 and #2? I tryed so many things. I even set a monitor to the primary monitor and them detached the second monitor and after a reboot the monitor is still #2?????? There has to be a definitive way to do this. My graphics card is a dual dvi Nvidia 6600GT and im using the latest forceware drivers.

have you tried the "clone" setting? Or how about the display settings panel switching which is the default?

The ID numbers are determined by the way Windows identifies the physical connections on the video card. You can't change the numbers normally, but you can change which monitor is primary and which is secondary in the Display Properties on the Settings tab by clicking on the monitor that should be primary, and checking the box labeled "Use this device as the primary monitor".

In one of the screens where it shows a picture of the monitors.. you can also drag one of the monitors by clicking and holding and move over to the other monitor spot..

I figured it out. Its under "Change Dispaly Configuration". When you have two monitors enabled you get two different configuration options in a dropdown menu. The two options have a differnt order for the displays. The one you want to be #1 has to be the first one.
